Route both the Windows and drums tracks to your master track. Name the drums track as "Drums" and make sure the inputs are your drums (MIDI). Assign the virtual audio card your Windows Sound track and name it as "Windows Sound". Name the master track as "Speaker Output" and select the output as your main sound card (the one you will listen to). Maybe the simplest way to add it is to click on FX button and Add the AD2. On reaper, add a master track, another track for your Windows sound, and another for the Drums (or multiple for the drums if you want to control pieces individually). On reaper, go to Preferences / MIDI devices and check if your module is there, and enabled. Connect the module to the computer, possibly via USB.

Install the VST you want to play (AD2 in your case). This is not a step by step per se, but a general idea about a way of doing it assuming you are using Windows. Can you tell me how you managed to configure it? Good luck.I'm trying to set up the Reaper with Ad2, so I can be listening to music and playing at the same time. Obviously AD2 is optional, but IMHO it's amazing and worth the price.

I'm not sure this will work with streaming from Spotify, but if you can get the tracks to MP3, you'd be set. I simply configured Addictive Drums 2 with Reaper, and then import a MP3 as a second track into Reaper and now I have everything I need to a) play a drumless song, b) have cool sounds using AD2 trigger by the e-kit, and c) have near 0 latency. I found Reaper, which is an inexpensive DAW (digital audio workstation). I looked into more hardware like a sound card or audio interface, but I was determined to figure it out without investing more money at this time. but I also couldn't play anything else like on YouTube or VLC because of the ASIO4ALL driver. I needed ASIO4ALL to reduce the latency down to a reasonable amount (it's like 1.5ms now or something). I have Addictive Drums 2 on the laptop setup with the e-kit to trigger very cool sounding acoustic kits.

I'm running my e-kit into my laptop using MIDI interface to USB.

I recently got back into drumming with an e-kit and was looking to do the same thing, just play along to some songs.
